GGT-30B Geophysical Transmitter

Overview

The GGT-30B is a high-power broadband geophysical transmitter built for demanding time-domain and frequency-domain field programs. Its constant-current architecture, fast turn-off performance, and rugged modular package make it a strong choice for crews working with large loops or grounded dipoles in challenging environments.

The GGT-30B is especially well suited for customers already operating a ZMG-30 series generator package. For many new deployments, Zonge may instead recommend a ZT-100B Geophysical Transmitter depending on the planned power system and survey configuration.

Where It Fits

  • Time-domain IP surveys
  • Frequency-domain IP and complex resistivity work
  • TEM programs
  • FEM and CSAMT surveys
  • Projects using loops or grounded dipoles

Key Specifications

  • Frequency range: DC to 8 kHz
  • Output current range: 0.2 to 45 A
  • Output voltage range: 50 to 1000 V
  • Current stability: +/-0.2%
  • Fast turn-off: 125 us for a 300 x 300 m2 loop
  • Resistive-load turn-off: under 10 us
  • Maximum input: 30 kVA at 30 C
  • Size: 56 x 40.8 x 43.2 cm
  • Weight: 71.4 kg
  • Operating temperature: -40 C to +55 C

Controls And Monitoring

The GGT-30B includes field-oriented controls and indicators for high-power operation:

  • power on/off control
  • transmit/reset switch
  • continuously adjustable locking current control
  • stepped voltage tap selection from 50 V to 1000 V
  • analog input and output voltage meters
  • digital operating display for current, turn-off time, transformer temperature, and input power

It also provides fault and status indication for conditions such as overcurrent, overvoltage, phase error, open circuit, and end-of-regulation events.

Integration

Switching is controlled by an external controller. The specification sheet recommends pairing the transmitter with a Zonge XMT, GDP, or ZEN control system depending on the survey workflow.

Power is supplied from a three-phase 120 VAC, 400 Hz +/- 15 Hz source, with Zonge ZMG motor-generator sets recommended for field deployment.

Options

  • IGBT spare module
  • SCR spare module
  • ZCM-10 isolated current monitor isolation amplifier module
  • LB6000 resistor load bank
  • ETS-9 switch box for rapid switching of dipole pairs

Why Customers Choose It

The GGT-30B is the transmitter customers look to when they need proven high-power performance, fast loop turn-off, and a transmitter platform capable of supporting a wide range of EM and electrical survey methods from one rugged field unit.
